Berkeley Omnium · Privacy
Privacy Policy
This site is run by the volunteers of the Berkeley Bicycle Club. It collects very little: what you send through the contact form, and visit counts if you allow analytics. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't run ads.
Effective October 12, 2026
The contact form
When you send a message we get your name, email address, organization (if you add one), the topic, your message and the page on this site that sent you to the form. The form goes to a small Amazon Web Services function that emails it to the organizers' inbox (Gmail). We use it only to answer you, and we delete messages after about two years unless an ongoing conversation needs them.
To stop spam, the form service briefly uses your IP address to limit how many messages one address can send. It isn't stored. The service's logs record only whether a message went through and its topic, never your name, email or message, and they're deleted after 30 days.
Google Analytics
If you allow it, we use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where visitors are (city level), the device and browser, how people arrived, and clicks on registration, sponsor and local business links. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga) to tell visits apart. Nothing you type into the contact form goes to Google, and our Analytics account isn't linked to Google advertising or used to follow you across other sites.
Until you allow it, the Google tag doesn't load and nothing is sent to Google. Google explains how it uses this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a no to analytics: the question never appears and the Google tag never loads.
Stored in your browser
Plan My Berkeley Omnium saves your plan in your browser's local storage so it's there next time. It never leaves your device. Your analytics choice is saved the same way. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes both.
Race videos and other sites
Race videos from YouTube and Instagram load only when you press play. From then on YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Instagram may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Registration happens on BikeReg, and other links leave this site too; their privacy policies apply there.
Kids
The kids race pages are written for parents. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a child has sent us a message, let us know and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete anything you've sent us. Use the contact form with the topic Website Feedback. Everything sent to and from this site travels over HTTPS.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. Questions about this policy go through the contact form.
