    Find Your Bike

Start With a Bike Shop You Can Trust

A trusted local shop can help you choose a bike for the riding you want to do, understand essential equipment, keep it maintained, and learn about local cycling. Bring your questions and your budget; start with what you need for regular riding.

Stay True Cycles in Berkeley consistently shows up for Berkeley Omnium and our local cycling community, including sponsoring the Berkeley Hills Road Race feed-zone water bottles in 2026.

A Better Fit Makes Every Ride Better

A bike fit looks at your riding position, comfort, efficiency and individual needs. Talk about where you feel avoidable discomfort and what kind of riding you enjoy; a fitter can help you understand possible adjustments.

Tempo Endurance supported the Berkeley Hills Road Race junior podium prizes in 2026 and has committed to supporting them again in 2027.

You Don’t Have to Figure Everything Out Alone

Coaching is for beginners as well as experienced racers. Find support with endurance, bike handling, climbing technique, a training plan, recovery, or preparing for competition. Tell a coach about your experience, available time and goals before choosing a plan.

Our coach directory introduces people connected to the Berkeley Omnium community. You can build skills without committing to racing.

    Cycling Is Better Together

Contact a ride leader before your first ride. Ask about pace, distance, climbing, regrouping and whether the ride welcomes beginners. Bring a maintained bike, repair supplies, food and water. Hold a predictable line, communicate hazards and leave space while you learn group etiquette from experienced riders.

A club can help you find people to ride with at your pace. Check the club’s current ride details before arriving.

    Your First Race

Ready to See What You Can Do?

A criterium uses short laps on a closed circuit; a road race covers a longer road course. New racers are welcome: start with the guide to Novice / Category 5 fields, USA Cycling licenses and registration. Check the current event listing for eligible fields, distances and any beginner instruction. Practice group skills first, then arrive early for check-in, warm-up and staging.

    Give Back

Become Part of Someone Else’s Journey

Cycling communities grow because people contribute. Volunteer at Berkeley Omnium, support junior cycling, mentor a newer rider through a club, help a local race, or become a community partner. You don’t need racing experience to make a useful contribution.

Local businesses, coaches, clubs and volunteers make this journey possible. Giving back is welcome at every stage.
