The Berkeley Hills Road Race is built on sustained climbing through the 3 Bears, fast technical descents, and a finale typically decided on the Papa Bear climb. Each lap is 18.76 miles with 759 feet of climbing. Train for repeated climbing efforts and practice descending before race day.

Berkeley Streets is a criterium: short laps on a closed downtown circuit, tight corners that reward positioning, and a finish that often comes down to a field sprint. Practice cornering in a group, holding a wheel, and repeated hard accelerations out of corners.

Can new racers race the Berkeley Omnium?

Yes. The Omnium has a Novice field for Cat 5 racers, and new racers are welcome. Junior, collegiate and women's fields race too.
