The story
From Los Gatos to Berkeley.
The Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club began in 1961 as the Los Gatos Bike Club, when Jack Hartman came home to Los Gatos after the Rome Olympics and brought his Army and Olympic teammate Bob Tetzlaff with him. With longtime Los Gatos cyclist Ed Steffani, they started a club.
LGBRC riders have raced Berkeley every year from 2023 to 2026, from Cat 4 and Masters 3/4 to the Pro/1/2. At the 2026 Berkeley Streets Criterium, Tyson Kamp finished 2nd in Masters 50+ 3/4.
Over the following years, ten LGBRC members have raced in the Olympics, four have become World Champions, many have become State and National Champions and several have joined the professional ranks of cycling.
