Thursdays Cycling Collective
A San Francisco collective that grew from an early-morning Thursday ride into a community of riders who train, travel and race together.

The story
Community built in San Francisco. Racing in Berkeley.
Thursdays Cycling Collective started in 2024 with a small group of friends riding on cold early mornings in San Francisco. That small training ride has grown into a collective of cyclists, racers, triathletes, mountain bikers and runners, with weekly rides, training camps and race weekends.
Racing hard while still building community is exactly what we're trying to build around the Berkeley Omnium, which makes Thursdays a natural fit.
A Bay Area crew of cyclists, triathletes, mountain bikers, and runners united by early mornings and high standards. We don't just ride fast. We ride together.

From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Berkeley hills.
Thursdays riders brought the collective's kit to the Berkeley Omnium, lining up alongside clubs and teams from across Northern California and beyond.

From weekly rides to race day
How a group ride becomes a start line.
One of the most important parts of cycling is a pathway from simply showing up for a group ride to one day lining up at a race.
Someone might start by joining a Thursday ride, which leaves at 6:30 in the morning from the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center. Then they start training. Then they meet teammates. Then one day they're standing on the start line at the Berkeley Hills Road Race or Berkeley Streets.
That's how the racing community grows, and communities like Thursdays help more cyclists find their way to that experience.

Thursdays describes itself as a collective built on early mornings and high standards, and just as much on riding together.
Its community reaches across road cycling, racing, triathlon, mountain biking and running, with training camps and race weekends through the year.

The next generation of local racing
Tomorrow's racers are on today's group rides.
Local racing doesn't only need junior development. It also needs to turn today's recreational and group-ride cyclists into tomorrow's racers.
A healthy cycling ecosystem lets someone move from a group ride to a first race, and from there into being a racer, a teammate, a volunteer and a mentor. A strong riding community like Thursdays is one of the best bridges across that gap.
